Description

Well, the strange couple. In Ursa Major there are very varied objects and among which we have the perfect couple. M97, a planetary nebula called the owl and M108, the surfboard galaxy.
M97 has a visual magnitude of 9.9 and can be seen with telescopes of a certain aperture, it is about 2000 light years away and inside there is a white dwarf, a stronghold of what was a star. It is found in our galaxy.
But if we travel much further, to 46 Million light years specifically, we come across the barred spiral galaxy Surfboard or M108, with a visual magnitude of 10.7 it is somewhat dimmer and exhibits an elongated spot under the eyepiece.
For the acquisition of this photograph I have taken as a reference almost 15h of exposure in sub-shots of 600 seconds in Luminance and 300 seconds in RGB at bin 2
